The CPU (processor) is one of the most important components in a game development PC. The CPU handles tasks such as compiling code and shaders, light baking, 3D sculpting, and is overall responsible for system responsiveness. The number of Cores affects the available headroom for larger calculations, the GHz affects the speed of task completion, and the amount of cache helps larger amounts of information flow through the processor.

Choose an Air cooler or a Liquid cooler. We recommend Air cooling for its reliability as with liquid cooling, there is more system downtime in the event of a water pump failure. If interested in a quieter approach, choose a Noctua cooler as they are renown for their premium quiet products.

Add additional fans to the case to add more airflow or some RGB lighting.

The Video card is responsible for rendering each frame that displays on your monitors as well as how many models, textures, and effects can be shown on screen. If working with game engines such as Unreal Engine, we recommend a 16GB video card or above to allow for a smooth real time experience. If you're primarily creating 3D assets with Blender or 3ds Max, choosing a better GPU will allow for faster renders.

The Motherboard is responsible for how many USB's and storage drives that can be connected. Choose a Motherboard that compliments all your external USB peripherals and accounts for all possible future storage expansions.

The amount of RAM your system has will affect how many applications can be open simultaneously and how large of a project/scene you can create in applications like Unreal Engine. We recommend anywhere above 96GB to ensure you'll have enough memory to create scenes and games as you see fit. If you are only Modeling and Designing 3D assets with Blender or Maya, sticking with 64GB is a solid choice that still allows an upgrade path to 128GB for future expansion needs.

Select a super fast NVMe SSD as your primary C: drive. This drive is recommended to store the Operating system, all applications, and main user data.

Select a fast NVMe SSD as your secondary D: drive. This drive is recommended to store all your active projects, assets, and games. Speed is very important for loading and saving projects.

Select a Hard Drive to store your massive amounts of inactive data. Always keep data on Hard drives backed up to prevent data loss in the event of a hardware failure.

Having enough power is essential to allow your components to perform as they intended. Having more power than necessary can help the lifetime of the power supply unit as it won't be as stressed and overloaded. We will always ensure that your Micro-Vision PC has enough power to last it years. If unsure how much power you need, the safe option is anything above 850W.

Configure the system with Windows 10 or 11. Otherwise, feel free to remove the operating system if you are wanting to install your own.
